Senior Performance Coach Qualification

About the qualification

The Senior Performance Coach qualification is for coaches who are, or aspire to, work fulltime in a performance environment.

It is an extensive and highly specialised course reflecting the high levels of commitment required to succeed in this area.

Note: This course does not prepare coaches for coaching in a club environment.

Coaches who need the broader range of skills required in a club coaching environment are recommended to take the Senior Club Coach Qualification. This course also contains content relevant to performance coaching for younger players.

Senior Club Coach Qualification

Duration and course structure

• 7 modules of 3 days including by 1 assessment day.
• 16 days of field experience in an HPC, some of this time with your course tutor.

Before the course candidates must:

• Hold either the LTA Coach Qualification, Performance Coach Qualification, Club Coach Qualification or DCA
• Hold a non LTA qualification awarded with NVQ Level 2 Coaching Teaching and Instructing Tennis
• Be LTA Licensed
• Have (or have had) a rating of 4.1 or below a Play Test Grade 3
• Have a letter of Recommendation/Support from a Performance Club or High Performance Centre head coach. The letter needs to A) confirm you are the right level for the course and have the relevant coaching and experience and work with the right type of players, and B) confirm that you can undertake the 16 days of mentored experience at their High Performance Centre or Performance Club. (These may be two separate letters in some cases).
