A term of Registration lasts for one year from the date of issue. Registration can be renewed from one month before the date of expiry. There is also a two-month 'grace period' after expiry in which coaches or assistants can renew their registration.
You can complete any of the Registration requirements outside this period, but you will only be able to make the final payment within this three month period.
If you renew your Registration within the allocated time, the renewed term will be dated to start the day after your old Registration. This will happen regardless of when you complete the application process. For instance, if your Registration expires on June 1st, your renewed Registration will start on June 2nd. This will be the Registration start date, even if you made your payment at the start of the renewal period on May 1st, or at the end of the renewal period on August 1st.
If your Registration status is 'expired' then it is no longer valid. However, you have a two month grace period after the expiry date in which you can still use the renewal process.
The renewal period includes a two month 'grace' period after the end of your Registration. During this period you are not Registered and are not covered by any of the benefits of Registration such as insurance.
If you have not renewed your Registration two months after it expires (at the end of the 'grace period'), you will be considered to have left the scheme completely.
You are free to re-enter the scheme at any time, but you will be treated as a new applicant, and as such may be required to complete a new Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) disclosure.
Remember that if you maintain your Registration by renewing on time, you will only be asked for a CRB disclosure every three years.
