Fulfilling your potential can be expensive and we try to help you in three different ways by providing funding for:

The Player Funding Matrix explains the LTA’s principles for funding for High Performance Centres (HPCs), satellite clubs, players and international travel.
Recent changes have been made to increase the support available to the top players in each age group. This is part of our commitment to reduce parental contributions as much as possible, widen access to tennis and create a more level playing field.

Fixed programme funding is available to all HPC and Satellite programme and it is designed to facilitate the planning, development and delivery of these programmes.
Variable player funding is also provided to HPC and Satellite clubs.
The amount is based on the number and quality of performance players who train at the club, in line with the LTA’s player matrix. This matrix categorises players into three bands A, B and C and is based on the LTA’s assessment of those players on track to become a top 100 player.

The LTA expects player funding to be directly offset against the costs of a player’s programme, helping to reduce the costs borne by players and their parents.
Player lists submitted by HPC and Satellite clubs are reviewed twice a year in September and March, although funding cannot be reviewed downwards in March so as to assist club and parental planning.

For the top-ranked players international as well as domestic competitions form an important part of this process as they enable us to measure players’ progress against international players and criteria.
Any category A player, or is deemed by the LTA to be a potential category A player, is eligible for support towards travel and accommodation at LTA-sanctioned international tournaments. The maximum support available in any 12-month period is £10,000 for the best players, although most support is far less than this amount, with costs being paid in arrears. Funding must be agreed in advance based on a six-month schedule (January-June and July-December) developed by the player, his or her coach and the LTA.
To make domestic travel to UK-based grade 1 to 3 tournaments attractive and affordable, the LTA is also working to provide subsidised hotel accommodation for the top British players.
