While it is important that your child stays in education, there are a number of options available which may make finding the balance between learning and tennis easier.
It is possible to complete primary education and the required tennis training with some flexible timetabling, but as your child progresses and the tennis demand becomes greater, decisions have to be made according to their academic ability and playing potential.
What should be studied?
A good foundation is to achieve a minimum of five GCSEs at grade C or above, including the core subjects of Maths, double English and double Science.
If your child is considering a scholarship to an American University, then a humanities subject such as History, Sociology or Geography is useful. Studying a language can also be helpful as players start to travel abroad more frequently to experience different competitions.
Schooling Options
There are various options when it comes to educating your child alongside their growing tennis commitments, the benefits of each need to be thought about carefully for your child, their needs and how they work best.
