Education at HPCs and Tennis Academies

High Performance Centres (HPCs) are run as independent units offering high-level coaching and fitness regimes.

There is a network of 19 High Performance Centres across the country providing a base to meet the needs of developing tennis players.

There are also a number of Independent Tennis Academies that provide a combination of an intensive tennis programme and academic study.

Some HPCs also offer the opportunity to continue with education, where this is the case there are two options:

  1. Players enroll at a state or independent school near the centre where they train, which works in partnership with their performance programme.
  2.  Players study through a distance-learning programme. Benefiting from a dedicated study environment at the tennis centre, with sessions carefully structured into their weekly schedule.
An academic mentor or manager oversees the programme and co-ordinates the work of the tutors, who also come to the centre for regular face-to-face tuition.
