Induction Days and Play Tests

All coaches who have taken their Level 2 qualification (UKCC) and are interested in progressing to the LTA ‘Coach’ qualification will need to have a certain playing standard or do a play test.

What is a play test?

To be able to access the Coach qualification a basic playing standard is required. The play test allows people to be assessed against the relevant entry playing criteria for a specific qualification.

Once successful on the play test candidates will be able to access their qualification course knowing that their playing ability is the correct level for the start of the course.

However, if candidates have (or have had) a rating at or above the following level they do not need to take the play test:

  • Club Coach - 6.1
  • Performance Coach, Senior Club Coach and Master Club Coach - 5.1
  • Senior Performance Coach, Master Performance Coach - 4.1

How to book on to a play test?

Play tests are run by counties so you should contact your local county office. Counties will put on play tests based on local demand.
