Great Britain to face Germany in the 2024 Billie Jean King Cup by Gainbridge Finals in Seville

The Lexus Great Britain Billie Jean King Cup team will face off against two-time former champions Germany in the opening round of the 2024 Finals.
The Finals will take place at La Cartuja Stadium in Seville, Spain, from Tuesday 12 to Wednesday 20 November, with 12 nations competing to be crowned world champions.
For the first time this year, the Billie Jean King Cup Finals will see the introduction of a revised format, replacing the round robin group stage with a knock-out competition, similar to the Davis Cup Final 8.
Eight teams will begin in the first round, with the four seeded teams receiving byes to the quarter-finals.
Great Britain's match against Germany will be a first round match, with the winner moving on to face reigning champions Canada in the quarter-finals.

Lexus GB Billie Jean King Cup Captain, Anne Keothavong said: "Germany are an experienced team with players we’re all familiar with and who our British players have had matches and wins against. No matches will be straightforward but we’re excited as a team to be involved in the Finals and we'll give it our all as always."
GB and Germany have faced each other six times in the competition, with the Brits leading the head-to-head 4-2.
Their last meeting was in 1985 where Great Britain ran out 3-0 winners thanks to victories from Jo Durie, Annabelle Croft and Anne Hobbs.
The Brits qualified for the Finals after Emma Raducanu and Katie Boulter carried them to a 3-1 victory over France at Le Chaudron in Le Portel.
The last time they reached the Finals in 2022, the British side progressed to the semi-finals, where they narrowly lost to Australia.
Germany defeated Brazil 3-1 in São Paulo to book their place in this year's Finals. Last season the German side qualified for the Finals but lost both their Group Stage matches against France and Italy.
